Steve and I shared 45 wonderful years together as husband and wife, 2 years dating, and knew him 3 more years before all of that! We were best friends...then he was diagnosed with COPD/Emphysema. Long story short...Steve was the kind of guy that would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it! He was always helping others through Ruritan National, the Fire Department as a volunteer Fire Fighter, the EMT's as a volunteer doing anything that needed done. Our entire family was dedicated to the FD and EMS! Steve was an honest, hard working and giving man. As he got more and more sick we did everything together and myself and his 2 sons helped him every way we could. When the ambulance took him to the hospital that Wednesday night, we had no clue that would be the last time we'd see him alive!! At 2309 they stopped CPR and call his TOD. Our boys and I knew Steve would want to donate his corneas and anything else that could help others, it was a no brainer! So now, Steve lives on continuing to help others in many many ways! We are so happy that Steve could do this and also hope and pray that the recipients of his help realize that they have been helped by a kind, rock solid man who continues to help others even after he's gone.
