Eye Bank Association of America

The Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA) is a not-for-profit organization of eye banks dedicated to the restoration of sight through the promotion and advancement of eye banking. The oldest transplant association in the United States, the EBAA is a nationally recognized accrediting body for eye banks. The Iowa Lions Eye Bank has been a charter member since the EBAA was formed in 1961 and was last accredited in Summer 2019 for a period of three years.

US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) Tissue Establishment Registration

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is responsible for protecting the public health by assuring the safety, efficacy, and security of human and veterinary drugs, biological products, medical devices, our nation's food supply, cosmetics, and products that emit radiation. In January 2001, the FDA published a registration and listing final rule that requires human cells, tissues, and cellular and tissue based-product establishments to register with the agency and list their human cells, tissues, and cellular and tissue-based products for regulation. Iowa Lions Eye Bank has registered annually with the US FDA Tissue Establishment Registration.
